Families,
While we have a busy week ahead, I am looking forward to talking with each of you about your child’s progress next week! I always enjoy having the chance to talk with you about the amazing things your child does on a day to day basis. Here is a look at what is ahead:
Reminders/Dates:
- Keep bringing in items for our class carnival basket! Our theme is “Animals.”
- Thank you to everyone who has donated books to our book drive so far! We are already past 900 books! WOW! You have until the 24th to bring those in :).
- Conferences are Monday (13th), Wednesday (15th), and Thursday (16th).
- Friday, March 24th is a Popcorn/Jeans Friday
- Scholastic orders are due on Wednesday, March 29th.
- There is no school on Friday, March 31st (Spring Break begins).
Reading: We are taking a quick break from non-fiction and moving back to fiction. We will review the strategies we have learned so far for retelling our stories.
Writing: We will begin our unit on “Informational Writing” (be on the look out for “How To” writing coming home). We will work on becoming an expert on a topic and adding details and facts that we know. We will also spend time with our writing partners to practice working with others.
Math: We are working on collecting and comparing data (this includes sorting it and different ways to represent the information that we have).
Science/Social Studies: We are taking a break from spelling to work on our plant observation journals (a plant with sunlight vs. a plant WITHOUT sunlight) and to learn about basic economic vocabulary.
Have a great weekend and see you next week!
