Families,
We are cruising through March! I enjoyed my time getting to meet with all of you at conferences. It is an honor to be your child’s teacher and I am amazed by this group of kids each and every day! Here is a look at what we’ll be learning next week:
Important Dates/Reminders:
- We will start our “Special Person Days” on Monday! Remember to check the calendar and list of items for your child to bring in. Your child’s mystery guest must have a background check completed prior to coming in.
- Refer to the March is Reading Month calendar that was sent home to see what spirit days we have coming up.
- Keep bringing in donations for our Crayola basket and the bake walk if you are able. We can’t wait for the Carnival on March 24th.
- Reading Counts will continue until the end of the year. First grade students need to have 12 books total by the end of the year to earn their next reward!
- Spring break is from March 30th-April 8th.
Reading: We will focus on retelling strategies with non-fiction books! We will practice four different retelling strategies to help our comprehension skills.
Writing: We will end our small moment story unit by fixing and fancying our writing and doing a “cold write” to see what all we can do when writing a small moment story.
Math: We will work through the beginning of unit 6 which has to do with collecting and sorting data.
Spelling: Our spelling words are: what, were, when, because.
Enjoy your weekend!
