WEEK OF 3/5/18

Families,

We are jumping right into what will be a very busy, full, and hopefully sunny month! There are a lot of reminders below so please take a careful look and mark your calendars. You will also find what we will be learning throughout the week:

Important Dates/Reminders:

  • Continue to read “The Chocolate Touch” as a family! We are getting into our book and enjoying it quite a bit! Each morning there is a trivia question about the previous night’s chapter and it is fun to be up to date on the book to try and answer!
  • Scholastic book orders came home Thursday. Please submit your order online using the class code NNX2P by 4p.m. on Friday, March 16th.
  • March is known as Reading Month! A calendar went home with all kinds of special dates to help us celebrate our love of reading.
  • Conferences start Monday, March 12th. Please take a close look at your date and time–15 minutes goes fast and I want to honor your time. Almost everyone has signed up–if you still have yet to sign up please do so otherwise I will assign you a time. I look forward to meeting with all of you to discuss your child’s success!
  • A note was sent home Wednesday about our version of “Star Student.” There is an attached calendar for your child’s day. There is a chance for your child to have a special person come in and read their favorite book to the class. In order for this special person to come in they MUST have a background check completed. Here is the link to fill one out: Background Check Form
  • A few notes went home this week about our Alward Carnival. One was about ticket sales and the other about our carnival donation basket. Our basket’s theme is “Crayola” so please send in any donations related to Crayola you may have!
  • A reminder that our Spring Break is Friday, March 30th – Sunday, April 8th.

Reading: We will work on retelling what we read to make sure it makes sense, use what we know to figure out tricky words, make our reading sound smooth, and reread our books to learn and enjoy!

Writing: We will keep using Mo Willems as our mentor author and will try adding speech bubbles, bold words, and a variety of punctuation into our writing.

Math: We will learn how to add and subtract 10 and multiples of 10 from a number (ex: 90-10=80, 60+30=90).

Spelling: We will have a spelling test and sentence dictation.

Have a great weekend!

Miss Reisdorff
