Families,
We have a busy few weeks leading up to conferences and as we begin the month of March! It will be Spring Break before we know it. Take a look at what is coming up in 1st grade:
Important Dates/Reminders:
- Don’t forget that Parent-Teacher Conference signups have gone out! Please use the link and directions in the email sent from AES Secretary to sign up. Spots are first come, first serve!
- Be sure to follow the “One School, One Book” schedule! We have read our first two chapters and can’t wait to continue reading to answer our daily trivia in class!
- We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday on Friday, March 2nd.
- Our next Early Release Day is on Friday, March 9th.
- Parent-Teacher Conferences are on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the week of March 12th.
Reading: We will learn what to do when we get distracted while reading, focus on word endings to help us read words (ex: -ing, -ed, -es), and how to work with a partner to figure out tricky words.
Writing: We will continue using Mo Willems as our mentor author! We have been looking at things he adds in his writing that we admire and want to try (ex: speech bubbles, bold words, using different types of punctuation, etc.). In addition to trying these things in our own writing, we will work on planning out our stories and adding a good beginning.
Math: We will learn how to add 3 numbers (ex: 6 + 3 + 4).
Social Studies: We will be learning about wants and needs.
Have a great weekend,
Miss Reisdorff
