WEEK OF 9/18/17

Families,

I cannot believe we are almost to the end of September! This was an exciting week for us as we had our first day of library and computers. We also get to celebrate and learn about “Constitution Day” today! I am looking forward to another great week of celebration and learning.

Important Dates/Reminders:

  • Please make sure you are checking your child’s folder and their daily news each day. We have so many papers coming home that it will help keep your child’s folder organized and keep you up to date!
  • A reminder that library books are due back every Monday. Starting this Monday, your child will be allowed to check out 2 books at a time!
  • ArtPrize is an annual art event in Grand Rapids. This year, the Hudsonville Elementary Schools have entered a rock display inspired by the book “Only One You.” It will be outside of the DeVos Performance Hall from September 20th-October 8th. Don’t miss it!
  • Our school’s first Popcorn Friday will be Friday, September 29th.
  • Scholastic book orders are due by 4p.m. on Friday, September 29th.

Reading: We will be working on thinking about what words we might find in our books, understanding the story, and understanding the author’s message.

Writing: We will work on adding “who, what, where” in our stories, stretching out our words, and how to zoom in on ONE small moment to write about.

Math: We will finish up with partners of 10 and then review for our Chapter 1 test on Wednesday and Thursday!

Spelling: Our spelling words are: a, of, to, said.

*Friday, September 22nd we will have an apple themed day where we learn about apples and make our very own apple craft!*

Have a great weekend,

Miss Reisdorff
