WEEK OF 9/11/17

Families,

We are entering our 3rd week of school! We have been busy starting reader’s and writer’s workshop, as well as math and learning about vowels. Our routines are under way and we are starting to master the habits of a successful 1st grader. Here is a look at the upcoming week:

Important Dates/Reminders:

  • If you have not yet turned in your Student Profile or Student Compact PLEASE do so by Monday, September 11th.
  • Our first day of library will be on Monday! We will go to the library every Monday afternoon so please have your child return their book(s) on this day.
  • School pictures are on Wednesday, September 13th.
  • Our “Early Release Day” is Friday, September 15th (dismissal at 12:15).
  • DON’T FORGET Scholastic book orders are due by 4p.m. on Friday, September 29th.

Reading: We will learn how to retell the events of a story, work on our reading stamina, and learn how to reread/focus after a distraction.

Writing: We will review the writing process (“think, draw, write”), learn how to plan our story before we write, and add the “3 W’s” into our writing (who, what, where).

Math: We will learn and add with the partners of 7, 8, 9, and 10 (ex: 3 and 4 are partners of 7 [3+4 = 7])!

Spelling: Our words for this week are “the, of, and.”

Have a great weekend,

Miss Reisdorff
